Leo Sheridan
CEO and President, Advanced Group of Companies
Leo Sheridan is the President, CEO, and co-founder of The Advanced Group of Companies. He founded the company in 1987
in Deerfield, IL, in a one-room office and has guided the company to its current $70 million in annual revenue in
(approx) 10 offices in four major metropolitan areas. Advanced has been recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business Journal
as one of Chicago’s Top Ten staffing firms and Advanced Resources, Inc. ranked #62 on the 1998 Inc. 500 list of the
fastest growing privately held companies in America. Leo, Mark Gallagher and Bill McMenamin comprise the Advanced
partnership team.
Leo is widely considered one of the brightest minds in the staffing industry and is actively involved in helping to
shape the future of our industry through his involvement in many industry associations. He has earned Certified Personnel
Consultant and Certified Temporary Specialist designations. He has served as an officer and board member of the Illinois
Association of Personnel Services (IAPS), including a two-year term as president. As a member of the Benefits Committee
of the National Association of Computer Consultant Businesses (NACCB), he created the organization’s first Internet job
board in 1996. He has been a frequent speaker and session moderator at NACCB conferences. He is a member of the American
Staffing Association (ASA) and has served on their Technology and Education Committee. He is also a member of the Independent
Staffing Services Association (ISSA).
Leo is a 1981 graduate of St. Michael’s College in Vermont where he majored in business administration. Upon graduation he
won several sales awards during his tenure with Lanier Business Products and Standard Register Corporation before accepting
a business development position with Olsten Staffing Services in 1985. He was Olsten’s #1 account executive nationally
during 1986.
As examples of his deep belief in lifelong learning and individual development, Leo is a member of the Young President’s
Organization (YPO), and has completed an Executive Management Program for Presidents at the Kellogg School of Management
at Northwestern University. He has also been instrumental in introducing Systems Thinking to Advanced as its core business
philosophy.
